Multilingual education

Students learn through English and Spanish as core languages of learning. They also study a third language, French or German, developing strong communication skills and a confident international outlook.

Early English immersion

Children in Early Years are immersed in English from the very beginning. With 90–100% exposure in their first years, they acquire language naturally and build a strong foundation for bilingual learning.

60% English learning

Students from age four through to Baccalaureate learn in English for around 60% of the school day. Subjects such as Science, Technology and Social Science are taught in English, helping students use the language confidently in academic contexts.

Second language from Primary School

Students from Year 5 onwards choose a second foreign language: French or German. Both languages are fully integrated into the curriculum, supporting the development of multilingual communication skills.

Language support

Each student receives personalised support throughout their language-learning journey. Dedicated tools and tailored guidance help strengthen comprehension, speaking skills and confidence at every stage.

Official certifications

Students prepare for internationally recognised language qualifications. Cambridge English, DELF French and Goethe-Zertifikat German certifications help strengthen their academic profile and open doors to future opportunities.

Official examination centre

Students can sit official language examinations at school. As an Official Examination Centre for Cambridge, DELF and Goethe, Fontenebro makes the certification process familiar, convenient and fully integrated into learning.

Native teachers

Students learn English with native-speaking teachers and conversation assistants. This approach helps them improve pronunciation, fluency and confidence in real communication.

International exchanges

Students gain authentic language immersion through exchange programmes with a partner school in Heidelberg and cultural visits to the Cambridge International School in the United Kingdom.

Language EdTech

Learners use digital tools to make language learning more interactive and engaging. iPads and Flash Academy support speaking practice, personalised progress tracking and active participation.

Early Years

In Early Years, children are immersed in a bilingual Spanish-English environment, with 90-100% exposure to English during their first years at school. Our “mirror” pedagogical model brings together two classrooms, one in Spanish and one in English, which children move between during the week.

By associating each language with a specific space and teacher, children acquire language naturally while developing confidence, comprehension and spoken communication from an early age.

Primary School

In Primary School, students learn in English for around 60% of the school day, using it as a language of learning in subjects such as Science, Social Science, IT and Communication Skills.

They benefit from more English teaching hours than those required by the official curriculum, allowing them to prepare for Cambridge examinations during the school day. From Year 5, students also begin a second foreign language, French or German, starting their multilingual learning journey with confidence.

Secondary School

In Secondary School, students strengthen their multilingual profile, with around 60% of the school day taught in English. Subjects such as Biology, Technology, Art and Public Speaking are delivered entirely in English, helping students use the language confidently in academic and real-life contexts.

They continue with the second foreign language chosen in Primary School, French or German, with preparation for official DELF or Goethe-Zertifikat qualifications. Learning is enriched through international exchanges, language immersion experiences and the support of native-speaking teachers and language assistants.

Baccalaureate

In Baccalaureate, the language programme focuses on academic excellence and international certification. Students continue to develop advanced English skills and receive two additional hours each week dedicated to Cambridge exam preparation, organised by level as they progress towards First, Advanced or Proficiency.

They also continue studying French or German, with preparation for DELF or Goethe-Zertifikat qualifications, consolidating a multilingual profile that supports future academic opportunities around the world.
